Wellness Center Referrals

The Axzons Pediatric Wellness Center ( AHL) serves

• patients who have not found answers for health conditions at other medical centers
• physicians who wish to refer their patients to Axzons Healthcare for help in managing complex conditions.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, physicians at Axzons Healthcare evaluate and diagnose the most complex conditions. Patients then receive a treatment plan created specifically for their care.

Coping with a "mysterious" illness can be overwhelming for children and their families. The professionals at the AHL understand the physical, emotional and psychological needs of young patients and their families.

A strong commitment to ongoing communication with referring physicians ensures that patients have the benefit of the full involvement of their primary care physician.

How does the AHL work?

The Axzons Healthcare offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment planning for children with problems that may not fit into a single subspecialty. Axzons Healthcare, can access a full range of specialists and services from affiliated hospitals to best meet the needs of each patient.

Initial diagnosis and evaluation. A general pediatrician sees the patient, coordinates the patient's evaluation and care, and orders necessary tests and/or subspecialty consults.

Tests and subspecialty evaluation. Most patients with an unusual condition or an underlying syndrome that cannot be identified in a routine exam are benefited by AHL physicians in multiple subspecialties working together to diagnose even the rarest conditions.

Return to Primary Physician. The general pediatrician reviews all findings with the patient's family and suggests a comprehensive treatment plan to share with the patient's primary care provider. Patients return to their home physician for ongoing care.

Time. Patients at the AHL receive dedicated, unhurried time from the physicians. The physicians offer detailed explanations and listen carefully to the patient's questions and concerns.

• Physical Exams — preventive and health maintenance, sports, school, insurance, dive physicals, DOT, medical presurgical exams and FAA exams
• Acute Illness Care — care for bronchitis, sore throats, and bladder infections
• Urgent Care — care for cuts and sprains
• Well-Baby/Well-Child Care — physical and developmental exams and immunizations
• Free Health Screenings and Classes — including blood pressure checks and educational seminars
